I have a PhD in Communication Studies with a focus in Rhetoric and Public Culture from Northwestern University.
My areas of research and teaching include critical cultural rhetorics; gender and sexuality studies; racial reckoning and redress; critical university studies; abolitionist rhetorics; memory practices; affect and emotion. I have taught courses in the areas of rhetoric, communication, and gender and sexuality studies.
Additionally, I hold a M.A. in Gender Studies from Central European University and a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Washington. I am deeply invested in feminist pedagogy and fostering inclusive and generative learning spaces by centering students’ experiences as critical sources of knowledge and shared understanding.
My research agenda invokes the themes of memory practices, community care, and social justice. Across my work, I explore questions of why and how, in what ways and to what ends, individuals and institutions rhetorically negotiate and articulate the past to understand explicit and implicit audiences, exclusions, and ongoing effects.
